Dancing Queen

We had our first dance lesson on Friday night. I suck majorly, but I'm willing to give it a shot!!! We had a really good time... even though we had to switch partners it was still cool. The funny thing was that Mr. San Diego was more unhappy with the idea of having to switch before and once we were doing it, I was bummed not to be dancing with him and he was having fun getting to dance with other chicks! haha

We just need to find time to practice this week before our next class on Friday! We'll be East Coast Swingers in NO TIME!

GOtta hit the sack now =(

I'm email bloggin! Yea!

So, what's new out there? Wow, life has been pretty crazy lately. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. We did the Disneyland thing last week and had a blast except for the rathole that we stayed in in Anaheim... oops, sorry ROACH hole. It was totally infested with roaches. NASTY! Do not stay in the Best Value Inn & Suites in Anaheim. Trust me. I even called the Health Department to report them. I couldn't ask for my money back because we stayed for free on a "prize" that we had gotten after attending a timeshare presentation. Two free disney tix and two nights in an Anaheim Motel. I called the time share place AND the company that issued the prize to complain, too.

But, we had a great time at Disneyland and California Adventure. Did you know that if there is an earthquake in so cal that they shut the rides down until they can be inspected? Neither did we, but that's what happened while we were at Ca Adventure. It was a bummer. I wasn't thrilled with the layout of Ca Adventure because it seems like you do a LOT of extra walking, backtracking all over to get where you want to go. Of course there was more of that going on just because of the earthquake thing, but GRRR!

JENN RECOMMENDS:
Two rides.

One: The new Buzz Lightyear ride at Disneyland. IT ROCKS! It's totally interactive so I find that way fun... but don't go on alone - that ruins the competitive nature of the ride! Here's a hint. GO FOR THE TRIANGLES! That's all I'm going to say.

Two: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at California Adventure. It was VERY fun, even after the long line. You don't know what's going to happen next and it's sorta scary, so beware. If you're there, you can't miss it!

Then Saturday we ran down to Tijuana to buy some big pots ot plant some bouganvillea plants in and got a killer deal on the pots, only to have Mr. San Diego lose his brand new cellular telephone and spend THREE hours trying to get back across the border. I understand being cautious, but these border patrol guys go OVERBOARD! ACK!!! But, we got what we went for. I got four giant pots for $85 total - something similar would have easily cost $60 each at Home Depot! Still getting ready for the big party on July 3rd. I'm panicking a little though because I haven't really gotten many responses to the invites I sent out... maybe it won't be such a big party afterall? So far I think I have 22 adults confirmed and 7 children. I sent out like 60 invitations! It's okay, I guess next week I'll have to get on the telephone and start calling folks. Bleh.

okay back to work.

Invites

The thing about invitations... you know, the ones that you request the recipient RSVP... is that once you send them, the waiting on the RSVPs is maddening! We went through that the most with the wedding last year. For that it was a big deal because you have to have counts and all that fun stuff. But even with inviting people to a simple barbecue, well a barbecue that you sent 60 invitations for, is rife with anticipation of: "who will respond?" "when will they respond?" "how many people do you think will come?" "Do you think the invitations got lost?" "How many goodie bags should I make for the kids?" "What do you think people will bring?" "How come no one has called or emailed yet?" "HEY! One called!"

It's just this huge anticipatory obsession. Really. If that isn't a term or even a word, I don't care... it describes me this week.

PS I'M ON MY WAY TO DISNEYLAND IN 3 HOURS!!!!!

My Salty Piece of Land

Back in April I mentioned that I had a grand plan to move to Cancun, right? So, surprisingly Mr. San Diego was not against it, but since then we have discovered that in order for him to transfer to the Cancun location, he would have to take a huge pay cut. Part of me is bummed. I see this as another sign that I'm stuck in this place in life. You know the place... the one we all have to go to eventually. Ummm, is it called adulthood? I think that is it. It's the reason I resisted buying a home until Mr. San Diego swept me off my feet and wanted to own his own little Piece of Land, unsalty as it is. I've always liked knowing that I had the option to move on when I wanted to. But, I chose this life and I'm good with it. I love Mr. San Diego and most of the time I'm happy with my little house on the big lot. heh

But, the good news is... we're going to Cancun next year for vacation! In April, we're flying for $60 each using our SkyMiles, so that's cool. We're going to go to Cozumel for 3 nights first (hopefully for free, with a 3-night free hotel stay we got from a time share... but that's not 100% guaranteed, since I'm requesting a date past the deadline and if htye notice they'll deny me... but I can try!), then we're going to stay in my mom's timeshare in Cancun for a week and I only have to pay her maintenance fee which is like $380, pretty affordable for 7 nights! This will make me feel totally not guilty for all the money I plan to spend on EXCURSIONS! haha SO, I am VERY excited about having a real vacation to a place I really like. I plan on a full on combo of sightseeing, partying, and relaxation! Of course, this IS a year away practically, so I have a little wait ahead of me. But that's okay...it's gonna be great.

Time Flies

I had to stop and take a moment to come here and say hello to everyone out there who I have been ignoring! haha I can't believe how fast the time has been flying. It's insane. I'm so busy at work and at home we're working every weekend to get our house semi-ready for my 3rd of July party that we're having. My house and yard are a LOT of work. The nice thing about June though, is you get some cloudy days when it's not a hot humid sunny one. The cloudy ones are nice to do yard work in.

I'm doing well on my weight watchers. I've lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks and today I had Del taco for lunch... hehe Actually, I have created a Fast Food cheat sheet with Fast food items I can get away with if I really need some food on the go. It's a business card so it can go with me everywhere! yea! I'm so clever sometimes! haha

But, I think one of the best things is that I have really increased my fruit and vegetable intake so I'm really eating more healthy foods overall, in addition to the smaller portions. I figure I'll go like I am until I start plateauing then it's adding in the exercise part. BLEH! haha Although, working in my yard is helatious exercise, so I guess I'll keep at that!

Last night we watched Big Fish on On Demand through Cinemax. This is SO cool. First of all, the On Demand thing is part of our package with HBO and Cinemax, so we can watch all the movies we want for free - WHEN we want! We don't usually pay for movie channels, but Six Feet Under just started so we had to sign up for HBO and got Cinemax thrown in. Of course, you have to pick from what they have available that day, but there are lots of good movies to choose from... between that and my fake Tivo (DVR through the cable co) I am settling in for couch potato status! Next, Big Fish. I. LOVED. THIS. MOVIE. Seriously. I loved it. The characters were awesome. The cinematography was wonderful. The story was good. I loved all of the characters except the son. I mean, I knew the son was going to "get it" eventually, but he irritated me for NOT "getting" his dad. If you haven't seen this, see it. I. LOVED. IT. So did Mr. San Diego. It was soooooooo good. Okay, I'll stop now.

So, I hope everyone is doing great. I'm sure there will come a time when I HAVE the time to post more regularly, but until then, I'll pop in now and again.
