Halloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday. This is the first year that I did not dress up at work. I had a meeting to attend and my boss said "no way", plus being gone the last couple of weeks really screwed up the whole costume planning thing. So, I'm a little bummed over it, but Mr. San Diego and I are attending a Halloween party this weekend, so we need costumes for that. I've been wracking my brains for costume ideas, but being the last minute is making it tough. I came up with Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf and I found stuff for the Red Riding Hood part, but couldn't find any Wolf goods. Grrrr... We could always throw togther a pirate thing, I guess, but we'd need to hit my mom's place because that is where all of my Ren Faire garb is. I dunno what to do!!!!! This is stressing me out!!!!!

Wheeeeee

Okay, I am a proud Saturn owner now! yea me! Boy, do I love cruise control! It soooo rocks! I would have dug the flashy yellow, but the blue is pretty too. I'm very happy and the Saturn people were GREAT! I totally recommend Saturn of Esondido. Of course, I know Saturn is the big Customer Service Sticklers. I'm very into customer service. I expect my staff to be damned cheerleaders when it comes to OUR customers so I am particularly appreciative when I receive good customer service. Anyway, that's the car update.

Grrrrrrrrr

Okay, disregard everything in the post about the Cavalier. The Chevy dealer insulted my intelligence and screwed me over and I am now going with the Saturn. However, I have to get it today since they dicked around with me at the Chevy dealer until too late last night. I'm upset, but I figure things happen for a reason. So, right now, one of the sales guys, not my slae guy, but another one calls me and says "did you find another car yet?" I tell him, Yes, I'm picking up the Saturn today." He says, "well, if you prefer the Cavalier, we're willing to go down to nothing on it." I tell him, "No thank you."

First of all, you are going to try to deal with me TODAY? After you fucked with me last night, got me all upset and made me leave WITHOUT a new car? FUCK YOU. Then, he doesn't say "okay, we'll give you the deal that we implied you were getting but then later said uyou weren't." No, he says, "we're willing to go down..." The deal was on the table for them. Take it or leave it. At this point it wouldn't have mattered because they would have had to go BELOW that deal to even match what Saturn is giving me for essentially the same car. I'm bummed about the smaller gas tank, but hey, it's all good, the Saturn look sleeker and has that third door and my insurance will be lower. I'm still a Chevy girl, I'm just taking a breather for now.

Tuesday Movies!!!

I actually saw some movies! Apparently, in foreign countries, they play our regular english speaking movies and just add subtitles to them. So while in Peru, we saw One Hour Photo and I saw Signs again.

I already rated Signs, so I'll just talk about One Hour Photo. Have you seen it? VERY strange movie. I guess I liked it. I'm still havning trouble with Robin Williams playing these freaky roles, but whatever. I don't even really know what to say about it except that Robin Williams plays a total freak obsessed with a family. Apparently because he never had a happy family as a child and was abused (or so is inferred), he obsesses over these people for years and of course, this eventually turns ugly. I think I would suggest waiting for video, but I'll give it a 6.

Decisions Decisions

Who says Saturn doesn't "haggle"? Damned liars. Anyway, the decison is made and in a few minutes I will start the hour and a half drive to Escondido to pick up my new yellow Chevy Cavalier. WOOT! At least now I know how I'm getting to Phoenix... if I could just figure out how to get some damned TICKETS!!!! Oh, I'm talking about for the Nascar Race in two weekends, by the way. heh

Anyway, it was a tough decision, but the Chevy won out for me. I like the fact that it has an 18 gallon gas tank. When you drive 175 miles per day, things like that are important. It is way sweet: Sun roof, cd player, A/C, clicky button locks, all power (not really that important, but sounds cool), yadda yadda... I'm happy. Plus I got a 100,000 mile warranty to go with it and 0% interest. I haven't had a new car in 11 years, so this is pretty cool for me. The thing is my truck has had it and I have been putting transmission fluid in it EVERY day. Can't handle that anymore. I knew this drive would kill it, though. I am going to look sooooooo cute in my new car =) hahaha

New Car

Tonight I'm going to test drive two cars. The first one is a 2003 Chevy Cavalier LS Coupe, Automatic, in Yellow. The second is a Saturn SC2 (3 door coupe), fully loaded with a sun roof, Automatic, in Silver. Whichever one I like driving better and/or has the most guts is gonna be mine tomorrow night. I would like to proudly announce that i qualified for 0% interest for 5 years. That may sound like no big deal except I used to have horrible credit and I have worked very hard to improve that. Of course the fact that I now make sort of a lot of money is probably helpful =) Any comments from EXPERIENCES with either of these cars are appreciated! I'm excited!!!

Peru

Peru was interesting. Similar to going to Mexico or any other country that is steeped in poverty. Lima is a huge city and is just like any other huge city, but the smaller towns/tourist towns were neat. Most of their buildings outside of Lima are made of adobe. I'm gonna post some pics up here in the next week just so you can see a little, but I don't want to bombard you with all 400 of the digi's Mr. San Diego took. heh He is going to put them all inot a Powerpoint presentation and that way we can show people that way.

We loved Machu Picchu. It was awesome and I was a little disappointed that we didn't have time to do any of the hikes around there. Lake Titicaca was cool... the coolest part being the Floating Uros Islands that are made by the natives of Reeds that grow in the lake. When you walk on them it's quite, uh... "squishy".

Just the whole seeing another country and the way of life was really great. We took 100 Hot Wheels with us to give to children and that was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Some of them would get so happy and throw their arms around us and dance around. It really is a great feeling to give children toys they've never even seen before. We get as much out of it as the children do.

What I'm probably going to do in the next couple of weeks is do something of a webpage ab out the trip with pictures and narrative and suggestions and information for others going to Peru. Once I get that up on my website, I'll put the link if you're interested in more. Otherwise, I won't bore you. Have to run. Forgot I had a lunch date!

Home At Last!

We've just arrived home. It was a great trip and we had fun, but I am happy to be home. Getting ready to have a good shower in MY shower and sleep in MY bed... Ahhhhh I will definitely write about what we did this coming week. I'm disappointed that I didn't have the chance to do so while I was away, but hey! We were on vacation! heh I feel so out of the loop now... I'm going to have to find a way to catch up with everyone!!!

Of course, it would be easier to update you all if freaking Blogger would work. I guess if after a month they haven't fixed it, it's time to move on. I guess I'll have to be brave and face Moveable Type.

Bienvenidos

Hey there. I´m in Lima and we´ve got net access in our hotel (which thank goodness was not as scary as most that we passed. Ends up I pick hotels quite well!). Obviously I´m not going to sit around blogging though. But thought I would check in and let you know I wasn´t hijacked and the plane didn´t crash. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate flying? Particularly when they tell you something is wrong with the plane, but oh! the mechanic fixed it and here we go on our 6 hour flight. YIKES! We´re off to do some exploring and find a sports bar with the race hehehe

I know it's going to be rough for ya, but I know you can manage without me for a couple of days. I do expect Nascar Updates, though!!!! Here I go, wish me good luck on the flight... I HATE FLYING!!!! I'll post at least once while I'm gone, so don't forget about me!!!

PS Interview was a bust, they were only paying 25-30k. Next time!

Don't hold your breath

There is almost no chance that I will be able to post tomorrow as I will be spending the day in Sacramento, guaranteeing that I won't be home or available until 9pm tomorrow night. Unless the class I'm attending happens to have computers in it and I can jump on during my break or something, but otherwise forget it! SO, I'm doing a quickie here. Just so you all know, I have a job interview in San Diego on Friday. Someone actually was impressed enough by my resume and cover letter to call me for a PHONE interview and now has set up a face to face, round-robin interview with me. I'm sort of nervous, sort of excited, but mostly I figure if this is the right job for me, it will happen and if it's not, it won't so don't stress! I'm going to wait until it's over before I say where it is on the incredibly off-chance that someone reads this and works there hahaha One interesting thing, my ex-husbands new wife works for this company, but on the other ned of the state of California. And, Mr. San Diego would LOOOOVE me to get this one! I'll let you all know how it goes on Friday when I get back from the interview. Wish me luck!

My first Friday Five!

ok ok... it's Tuesday, but I just saw this on someone else's site so I had to do it. You'll see why. It's my Doc Marten addiction... it makes me do things I wouldn't normally do!

1. What size shoe do you wear?

7

2. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I have 16 pairs of Doc Martens, 12 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of boots, no make that three if you count the cowboy boots, a few pumps/flats (girl shoes), two pairs of Converse high tops, two pairs of tennis shoes, oh, and 1 pair of hiking boots (way killer deal on eBay, baby!) and a pair of custom moccasin boots for the Renaissance Faire. That oughta be pretty close to what I have.

3. What type of shoe do you prefer (boots, sneakers, pumps, etc.)?

Obviously, Doc Martens boots. I have 16 pair! My newest being a pair of purple 8-hole boots that I thought I was going to pay $100 for, but that I got for $30 including shipping. WOOT! I also have Burgundy, Blue, Red, Yellow, Orange, 2 pair of Green, 2 pair of Black, way cute Red Plaid, Snake Skin, patent Peach, etc etc etc…

4. Describe your favorite pair of shoes. Why are they your favorite?

I guess my favorite shoes are my red Doc Martens. I mean I love all of my Docs and I wanted the purple ones for SOOO long, but the red ones are just damned cool… cute and comfy! I also REALLY love my hiking boots. They are $130 boots, I got for $40 and they are like walking in clouds. Mmmm

5. What's the most you've spent on one pair of shoes?

I think I picked up a pair of Docs for about $80 once. I don’t think I’ve spent more than that. I’m a bargain hunter and I’m usually trying to get the killer deal. The most expensive shoes I OWN, however are my Renaissance Faire boots which were custom made to my feet and cost about $500. Those were a gift, though =)

There you have it. I'm a boot junkie. Mr. San Diego calls me Imelda, but I am SURE most chicks have more shoes than me. I'm sure. Really.

Not Happy

I was way to upset to even post yesterday. I'm still pissed. Jimmie got so freaking hosed at the race that I just can't stand it. Yeah Yeah, Mark Martin had a malfunction, it wasn't his fault yadda yadda yadda. Well, screw that. I agree with Kathleen, what the hell was he doing driving that whole race with a car with a malfunction!?!?! He even said it happened later after the race again! I think it sucks that he put himself and all of the other drivers at risk, not to mention totally fucked Jimmie. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I'm so unhappy about this and damn it, this restrictor plate crap sucks. I will say that since Jimmie was pretty much history throught he whole thing, I was rooting for Steve and was sure glad to see him come in 6th! WOOT! You know, he is the cutest guy in Nascar. There are a couple of other drivers that are alright looking, but either he has a really great make-up artist (tee hee) or he is definitely the best looking of the bunch!

In other news, we made it to the Haunted Hotel last night in San Diego's gaslamp district. It was pretty cool, but seemed sort of short. I screamed a lot. Boy, do I hate chain saws!!!! They have 3 events actually, one other called Frightmare on Market Street and the other called Haunted Trail, so we might actually try to hit one of the others too before it's all over. It's so cool to have someone to go to haunted hosues and do the things I want to do with. I am loving having someone to hang with. I guess the big test is going to be Peru... can we travel together??? We shall see!

My Bad

Ack, alright, I bailed on you guys briefly. But, see, I went home from work early Thurs and was out ill Friday yadda yadda Yesterday I went to the Hot Wheel Convention with Mr. San Diego. You guys know about the Hot Wheel phenomenon, right? See, this is a counter-culture one may not have expected existed! Craziest thing I ever saw when I first became involved with Mr. San Diego. These men hang out at Target, Wal Mart, KMart, KBs, etc waiting for them to open in the AM so that they can run to the toy section to find Hot Wheels, particularly Treasure Hunts. Ok, I exaggerate a little. MOST of the time they don't actually run, they just walk really really fast. Athought they do have what they call "runners" (Think Logan's Run? heh). Anyway, your local store can have anywhere from 1-8 guys out there in the morning. Most of them do a "circuit". For example, Mr. San Diego hits the first WalMart near our new place at 6, when it opens. From there, he heads south to the Wal Mart that opens at 7, then if he finds nothing there, it's a quick race to the nearby K Mart (which also opened at 7) and then Target at 8! On weekends, we can also hit Toys R Us at 9:30, then a KB Toys or any of the record stores at 10, because Mr. San Diego is not just a Hot Wheel collector, oh no. He collects LOTS of toys! McFarlane's, Simpsons, Action Figures, Nascar, etc ,etc. It's crazy and our home is full of boxes of toys and we have TWO dedicated "toy rooms" (different meaning than it has for you parents out there), but man I love that guy! So, I put up with his pack-rattin' ways =)

Anyway, so we hit this convention and MAN what a disappointment as far as conventions go. I told Mr. San Diego that I would be happy to be on teh committee to help them make a better one. They only had a few events taking place and this thing supposedly started on TUESDAY, NOTHING went on until Saturday! They had a few hot wheel races, they have some custom hot wheels that are entered in a contest for trophies that you can view they had this hotwheel vending machine that we watied 3 hours to do for jack shit nothing except the joy on a small child's face when I gave him the helicopter I got out of the machine, and you can buy stuff after waiting in a long ass line. The whole point is that if you are a collector, you gotta hit this thing so that you can get the car that they give with your entrance fee. This is why I went, so Mr. San Diego could get two. The coolest part of the whole thing is that the people who are staying in the hotel open their rooms up and sell hot wheels from them. You can wander from floor to floor and room to room talking to people and looking at cars and stuff. That is a cool thing, but it really has nothing to do with the people who set the event up... that is the GUESTS doing that! To me, you sould be having a lot more displays and presentations/talks, and booths of things to sell or provide information. Local clubs should be out there telling you about themselves. etc etc But, who am I?

Welp, sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I'll do my best to do BETTER! Race today! YEA!!!!!!!!!! Go Jimmie!!!!!!!!!! We have this race calendar thingy that Mr. San Diego put on the refrigerator and he said that it's for writing the winner of the race next to each race, so I went in and wrote REAL big next to each of Jimmie's races that he won, his name. Hee hee I'm toooo funny. Mr. San Diego has to look at the lack of Rusty's name and the three "Jimmie"s everytime he gets a beer. hahaha

By the way, Blogger is still screwed up! I can see it having glitches, but this is getting ridiculous. Posting is a freaking ORDEAL!!!!

Movies?

Have you noticed that I haven't seen any movies in weeks?!?! This is horrible. I almost went on Friday, but my day was going so fast once I finished with my pedicure and shopping. I really want to see Sweet Home Alabama, but Mr. San Diego won't go see it cuz he thinks it is a "Chick Flick". I thought guys liked seeing Reese WItherspoon movies cuz she's sorta a hottie? Grrrrr See, that sort of annoys me because I NEVER get to see girl movies or even Girl RELATED movies. I see everything everyone else wants and if I want to see something like this, I have to go alone. Bleh! Oh well. It's not like you chat during a movie or anything, I don't really mind going alone, but finding time is hard. *SIGH*

The cool thing is tonight we're going to a Huanted House thingy in San Diego! YEA! I'll tell ya about it tomorrow!
