Ten Things
1. I like Tylenol 3.. especially in pairs.
2. I hate transmissions
3. Apparently there is a STIGMA attached to having a 909 area code on your telephone number, so the Riverside people have cheerfully switched to 951 effective last Saturday.
4. I now have to change an assload of area codes on my cell phone
5. Servers going down is an unhappy event in my life
6. 70 employees in my office asking individually why this or that on their computers isn't working, has forced me to wear a hot pink sign on my chest stating that the Server is down.
7. I changed my name today at the bank and technically at work, except I have to wait like two weeks for that one to take effect.
8. I'm ready for lunch... someone should feed me.
9. Why do I only have to do "dirty work" on the days I actually dress appropriate for work? If I wear jeans, I sit prettily at my desk all day. If I wear a skirt, I have to check my transmission fluid or climb under a desk to fix a computer.
10. My day sucks ass, but the codeine is helping.
USA Today had an article yesterday about People who read and respond to SPAM. It says "One-fifth of U.S. residents acknowledge buying products from spam purveyors, according to a Yahoo Mail survey of 3,100 Internet users in May. A third said they respond to spam."
I don't get it. It's so annoying. I get easily 100 spammed emails a day. I get everything from Porn to people selling some Viagra crap, to just plain virus carrying junk mail. I HATE it. Yes, occasionally, if the email is from a company that I think might be SOMEWHAT reputable or something I will attempt to get off of the mailing list, but mostly I don't do that either, because that tends to send a virus or some other little item to my computer or gets me on more lists. So, I delete. Those who don't delete perpetuate. SO FREAKING DELETE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps it is similar to my boss pissing me off, but the fact that I told one of my employees to please work until their assigned GO HOME time rather than leaving 5-8 minutes early EVERY DAY and his response was to go around the office telling people that well, he saw me on the freeway 20 minutes before my GO HOME time is making me see red!
First point of action. I have a GENERAL schedule, but I have a great deal of flexibility in that schedule, meaning I come and go as I please as long as I put in my 40 hours. Why? Because I have worked my way up the totem pole, asshole.
Second, if one wants to have what I have, then by all means set goals, create positions, whatever you need to do. You don't like it? Well, you probably wouldn't like the nights I have to work until 6 or 7 at night either.... with the flexibility comes the responsibility of having to be at work when you'd rather be on your way home or coming in on a Sunday because a budget issue came up on a Friday night. This is what being in management means. Yes, there is flexibility, but you also have more responsibility than those employees under you.
Third, it doesn't really matter, stupid. I'm your freaking boss. I write your evals and I decide if you get a raise or not so shut the hell up, sit your bony ass down and get some work done for a change instead of screwing off and bragging about it! Geez. When will people learn not to piss off the person with the power?
I actually read a book! Seriously... no cassette, no CD, a real, live book! It was light enough to carry around in my purse so I could read it while witing for things or eating lunch, etc. It's called "Filthy Rich" and is what might be best described as "Chick Lit". My mom picked it up at the thrift store for 50 cents and said it was funny, so I read it.
It is.
Funny, that is.
Basic premise: girl is boyfriends studio audience "lifeline" on "Who Wants to be Filthy Rich" (yes, exactly... Millionaire). Girl misses lifeline question, guy loses, calls her a bitch and breaks up with her on national tv. The story is how she handles it and him and it's funny and cute. I recommmend it if you like chick lit. cute.
Please visit The Rabid Librarian To read this post about WalMart. Once again, staggering figures are found to show you how greedy the WalMart elite are. Read the evidence and judge for yourself. But, if you can find it in yourself, stand up and fight against the antichrist. Maybe it won't even be in our lifetime when it truly begins, but do you want your children to lose the freedom of choice of where they can shop? Prices won't be so low when there aren't any competitors out there and greed won't dwindle!
Just your friendly, neighborhood update...

Permission Granted... sort of
Mr. San Diego has consented to my posting his picture online as long as he approves said photo first. YEA! I will try to put up some wedding pics this week. YEA!
Whoops... I forgot to jump on the bandwagon and rush home to blog about the BIG NEWS we got on Saturday morning at the ComicCon. Yes, it is true. I heard and saw it with my own ears and eyes... Episode 3 is titled "Revenge of the Sith". Silly me, I didn't even realize there was a big deal about this until everyone, including our nephew and his friend (attending the Con with us), screamed, hollered, yelled, and cheered with the announcement. So how about that. There I was...
WOW! The pictures work. How cool is this. In addition, to the whole Photobucket thing working out, Blogger has really made some improvements and I think I'm going to have some fun playing with it.
So, without further ado... My Photoblog Okay, it's only just begun and I'm still playing around, but I put up a couple of the honeymoon photos. No, you will not see any pics of Mr. San Diego yet. I haven't actually gotten up the nerve to ask if I can post pics of him and he's likely to say no, but maybe I'll beg so I can put up a wedding pic. I'll post here whenever I put up something new over there and now that I CAN, I'll put pics here, too when appropriate. Yea!

It's an Experiment!
Here goes... my first Photobucket experience. If this works, this would be me and CHODE hanging out at the SciFi Channel Booth.
See, I'm not really INTO comic books, aka Graphic Novels, but I do love movies. So, when I spent an hour of my day yesterday in a panel discussion about a new movie by Robert Rodriguez, I wasn't all excited - I mean, beyond knowing he's done some great flicks in the past. That is, until I saw the opening of Sin City and it is fucking amazing. That is the only way I can describe the sneak peek we got at this movie, expected out next year and abased ont he Sin City comics by Frank Miller. Besides the awesome cast, the design to this movie is indescribable, so when you get a chance to see the intro to this movie (it should be on the net in the next month sometime)... see it! You'll want to see the whole thing, just like I do. I just wish you all could have seen this great panel with me. It was the highlight of the con for me, I think. OH, and Buffy, sorry...Sarah Michelle Gellar was alright. Other than that we bought a lot of crap to sell to finance the four day money pit and picked up a TON of freebies: posters, t-shirts, pens, light suckers and pretty much all kinds of craps, including... yup, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy TOWELS. Wheeeee!
Do you think that Keanu Reeves has that little bald spot on his cheek because he just can't grow a beard or because he often sits with his chin in his hand and his thumb rubbing that spot?

Surfing, Comics & Crap
I surfed the Blogsnob links today. Interesting. Came back to my site with the 3rd hit then kept gettting a lot of repeats, so stopped. Who cares.
I won't be around, more than likely, the next 4 days as I will again be attending
Comic-Con. I would be looking forward to it, but I am EXTREMELY grumpy at the moment. Anyway, I'm outta here (work) in about 30 minutes and will be back on Monday. That part is good.
Yesterday, I had a lousy afternoon, a really nice evening, and a night from hell. Didn't sleep much and even though the hell passed and is over and in truth, ended up being some weird ass thing that didn't even exist, the fact that it even happened is still weirding me out. Have I mentioned that, at heart, I am not a trusting soul? That was only from years of being jaded from years of being screwed over. So, I need to work on that. Grrrrr....
Need to finish some work before I leave for the day/week. I'll check in when I get a chance, or Monday... whichever comes first.
PS blogs about computer stuff are boring. blogs in other languages, ummm... well, I don't read other languages, blogs where people spend the whole time ripping on "the left" or "the right" are boring as HELL (uh, for me...obviously not for the people who write or read them), blogs where every single post is about the same thing (I'm sick... I'm still sick... I'm really sick... blah blah blah) are annoying. Some blogs are very cool: blogs that people talk about things in their life and they are great writers, blogs that (in part) contain reviews of things: movies, stuff in general, etc, blogs of people who share their interesting lives, people who have a true weblog with links to interesting things, blogs where topics are discussed that vary (some politics, some entertainment, etc) and are discussed in a rational non-hateful manner, and blogs that crack me up. Just my 2 cents.
Today I saw a guy riding down the freeway (in the opposite direction than the one I was traveling) on a motorcycle doing a wheelie. The whole time I could see him in either direction he was doing the wheelie. It was a trip.
I've spent all morning making deviled eggs, chicken salad, and fresh salsa. Of course, being Sunday, I've also spent the day doing laundry. Yea for Sundays! What happened to my life of leisure? *SIGH*
My house is hotter than hell... well, maybe not hell, but damned hot! We do not have AC and mosly lay around in front of the fans. I look around at all of the things I NEED to do, but it's too freaking hot. Maybe I'll start the wedding scrapbook... or not.
Tonight we're heading off to a yummy dinner for a secret shop. Only bummer is that the report on this one is INTENSE and I'm giong to have to track down a watch to wear to keep track of times. But, hey, free food!
I came in 15th last night in the poker tournament at Lake Elsinore. One of the people who went with us came in 14th. There were about 115 who started, so I'm happy with my finish. I got back 1/2 of what I'd spent. Would have rather gotten it all back, plus, but at LE I've never gotten to payday, so that was my goal. I succeeded in reaching my goal. I actually could have done better, if I hadn't been so concerned with getting that $25 payday spot because I folded a hand I shouldn't have, but it was a strategic move to get me to the money... next time I won't have that need and I can play a hand like that properly.
Okay, enough blithering. I think I'll go surfing now.
One thing I've never quite been able to figure out...even today, after hearing the song thre times on three different radio stations... So, when he figures out that Lola is a man, is he freaked or okay with it? It's one of those things I just could never really get.
So, I'm not as big of a geek as I thought! Well, then again, I go to Comic-Con, I KNOW people are way geekier than I am. Anyway, I'm only 22.48521% - Geek. I found this out when I went to www.innergeek.us/geek.html and took the Geek Test! Found over at Grillboy's place, who happens to be exactly as geeky as I am!
First of all, Blogger is freaking me out. Why do they keep changing the editor, then I get here and feel all confused and such. Geez.
Anyway, Nick is right. Blithering about post number 1000 is boring. So, I'm shooting for my favorite number. I only have 7740 more posts to go after this. Whoooooooooooo
After 2.5 hours in the DMV today I have officialy changed my name. Once the CDL gets to me, I can do all the other changes like credit cards, banks, passport, etc. What a pain in the ass. Kind of exciting to get rid of the ex-husband's name finally, though.
Have I mentioned how BITCHEN Real Rhapsody is? The only thing that sucks right now is that they don't yet have the song "1985" by SR-71. Could anyone MAKE a more Jenn song? sheesh. Okay, so I sort of paid $10 for a month of it. I'm going to cancel after that first month, though. I am. Really.
Right now I'm all obsessed with listening to old 70s stuff, not not really 70s so much as sort of folky sounding stuff... current playlist: American Pie, Picture, Cats in the Cradle, We Were in Love, 100 Games of Solitaire, American Girl, Me and Bobby McGee, Where the Streets Have No Name, A Better Place to Be, Follow Me, Danny's Song, Teach Your Children Well, Hand In My Pocket. yeah, it's true... I'm a dork =) But I don't care!
Maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead.

1000th Post
This is my 1000th post. Should it be about something monumental? um. no. I have nothing monumental to say. I just saw the "999" and thought, "what the hell, let's make it 1000!"
I do have a question, though.
*****COLD MOUNTAIN SPOILER*****
I finished listening to Cold Mountain and I am freaking PISSED. I'm glad I read the book before seeing the movie, that's for sure. I really hate books/movies that make you think all is good and then the end hits you in the face with a punch and a bad ending. Kind of like that stupid-ass movie, City of Angels.
Anyway, here's the thing. If Inman could walk all that way and deal with all of the adversity he did and kill all those guys, how the hell did he let one asshole kid kill him???? That is just plain frigging stupid. That's all I'm going to say about that.
When we woke up too early the next AM in the campground at Chiricahua, we finished off the cheese and bread (grumble grumble) and went off to visit the Faraway Ranch located in the Park. We did some hiking and looke around, but were unable to tour the Ranch as that is done by guides only and we were there at the wrong time. We headed off, sad to have to leave, but eager to move on to the next Park, Fort Bowie.
Fort Bowie is interesting, commemorating the terrible wars between the US Military and the Apaches in the area. There are none of the buildings actually still standing, but there a lot of ruins of the buildings that they are trying to preserve. The Visitor Center has a nice museum, but not AV program. One unique thing about this site is you have to hike in a mile and a half just to get to the visitor center. I hadn't realized that, so we were a little off-schedule after spending 4 hours there so we decided we'd have to see the last park on our list the next day on our way home.
Instead we visited a whole bunch of Factory 2Us looking for toys. We were actually pretty successful, so I guess that was good. Then we headed off hoping to find a motel close to the Casa Grande Ruins that we planned to see the next morning. Unfortunately, tis park is located in the lovely (ahem) city of Coolidge, AZ which had two dingy motels that looked way scary so we drove about 20 miles back towards the freeway and stayed in a nice motel with a Jacuzzi in Casa Grande, AZ and ate pizza. yum.
The next morning, we made the drive back to the ruins, which is pretty neat for a small Park location. The Visitor Center was one of the best I've seen with great audio visual presentations, a really good museum with "touch me" stuff, and talking dioramas. It was nice.
That was it, it was time to head home. So, we cruised back down to the freeway, took a quick stop to look at the weird crap in Eloy
, then headed towards home.
We had a great time. Can't wait for the next one. I'm hoping to fly to Chicago and do Route 66 back to Cali. Wheee! IN the meantime, I guess I'll have to be content with little trips. Of course, this year we HAVE to hit a bunch of the Nat'l Parks in California because we have an Annual Park Pass and we want to make the most of it! maybe a trip to Yosemite is in order. Hmmm...

The only thing I'm not liking about Intermezzo is that I want the 6 back copies (this is a new mag) and they want $10 a pop!!! OUCH!

Stupid Boss Tricks
So at 5:30 last night as I'm madly dashing to my hair appointment I get a telephone call from my boss. He's at the office and they were trying his key in the door and the door is not unlocking. What to do? I said, "I dunno, the number of the company installing our lock system is in my office somewhere, but not sure where" and my boss says, I SWEAR TO GOD HE SAYS: "I'm tired of this, I'm not going to worry about it, I'm going home". This is the MANAGER of the Program. THE BIG BOSS. He's going home. I said, "ok".
SO this morning at 7am, I get a call from my clerk saying "Hey, the key doesn't work and we're all standing out here." I said I assumed that would happen and explained the call from the night before. So she says not to worry, since I'm driving she'll call 411, get the number of the alarm company and have them come out. Which she did. They arrive arond 8 and we all sat around until 8:30 when we finally got in.
I'm sorry, but maybe I misunderstand the role of a manager. SHould't there be some caring there about "what willhappen in the morning???" Grrrrr
It's true. Jeff Gordon won the Pepsi 400 last night, so we're all in luck and get a free coupon for a 2-liter bottle of the new Pepsi Edge. Just go to www.pepsiedge.com/home.php and sign up. YOu must do it by 6PM PST today and it says only one per household. You're Welcome.

Notice lack of posting today? This is because my clerk called in sick today and so I spent the whole day doing what I had planned for her to do today and that was: CLEAN THE FREAKING SUPPLY ROOMS UP!!!! So I did that, with help from another clerk in the office who had some time available and the supply rooms rock and look awesome! I also juggled a final walk thru with my architect, the "sign-guy" who was supposed to have my signage for the doors designed by today, and the furniture guys back to ALMOST finish up their part of the office. Plus I made a run for the mall to buy gifts for my friend Rhiannon who I took to lunch for her birthday today. Yeah, I was busy! I'm headed to Hollywood tonight, but not for a couple more hours, so I think I'll take a cruise by the local NTN spots and see if I can spot Nick. Bye!
